Job Description
Cavallo Point Lodge is a distinguished luxury hotel situated in the heart of Fort Baker within the breathtaking Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Renowned for seamlessly blending historic charm with contemporary elegance, Cavallo Point has earned numerous prestigious accolades including two-keys in the Michelin Guide for both 2024 and 2025. Additionally, the lodge received the Global Vision Award for Sustainability from Travel + Leisure and was named "Best of the Best" by Virtuoso. This elite reputation highlights its status as a premier destination for travelers seeking exceptional hospitality experiences. The lodge operates under the expert management of Passport - Ft. Baker Management and maintains a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, community involvement, and guest satisfaction.
We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead Cavallo Point Lodge into its next phase of excellence. This full-time management position offers a competitive salary range of $240,000 to $265,000 plus bonus potential, along with comprehensive health benefits, a 401k program with company match, and numerous property discounts. As General Manager, you will be the chief representative and goodwill ambassador of the lodge, acting as the pivotal link between the management company, the National Park Service (NPS), guests, staff, and the broader community.
The role demands a seasoned leader with the ability to inspire a passionate hospitality team to consistently deliver guest-driven, high-quality services while maintaining operational excellence. You will be responsible for driving the financial success of the property by collaborating with the management company and department heads to create and manage budgets, develop annual plans, and implement long-term capital strategies that align with the lodge’s profitability goals. Operating within the unique context of a national park, the General Manager must be well-versed in the terms of the lease agreement with NPS and ensure all operations comply with stipulated obligations and community standards.
In this role, you will oversee all facets of hotel management including staff recruitment, ongoing training, and performance coaching to foster a motivated and skilled workforce. Maintaining high visibility throughout the property, you will actively engage with guests and employees alike, championing an open-door policy to address concerns and enhance the guest experience. Your leadership will help cultivate a culture of safety, security, and environmental responsibility, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the proper tools and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely.
Furthermore, you will be instrumental in nurturing community relations and representing Cavallo Point Lodge at public forums, with investors, media, and hospitality peers. Staying abreast of industry trends, you will incorporate innovative practices to continuously elevate service standards and operational efficiency. Collaboration with other Passport Resorts General Managers and marketing teams will be essential to promote the property’s unique offerings and sustain its position among the best luxury hotels nationally.
This opportunity is ideal for a strategic and visionary hospitality leader who is passionate about managing an iconic property with a strong commitment to sustainability and guest satisfaction. The General Manager will play a crucial role in preserving the historic legacy and natural beauty of Fort Baker while ensuring Cavallo Point Lodge continues to shine as a beacon of luxury, service excellence, and environmental stewardship.
