The General Manager role at TGI Fridays is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of the restaurant to ensure a superior guest experience. This role involves managing multiple restaurant managers and team members, overseeing profit and loss, and maintaining adherence to the brand’s credo and values. The General Manager focuses on growing guest counts, increasing sales, and maintaining operational excellence by coaching, developing, and motivating the staff. This position requires a strategic mindset blended with hands-on operational knowledge to execute brand standards effectively and handle guest relations issues promptly and professionally.

As a General Manager, you will be the face of the restaurant, actively engaging with guests to guarantee an exceptional Fridays Service Style experience. You will lead by example using proven management theories such as the Bubble Theory and Hamburger Stand Theory to anticipate guest needs and set the stage for successful shifts. Additionally, this role involves collaboration with marketing to drive sales through local and national promotions, managing staffing to align with fluctuating business needs, and fostering an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for all employees and guests.

This full-time leadership opportunity offers an hourly wage up to $15, reflecting the importance of the role in contributing to the restaurant’s success. The General Manager will have significant responsibility, including hiring and terminating team members, managing employee relations, approving disciplinary actions, and ensuring compliance with all legal and company standards. Success in this role is measured by guest satisfaction, revenue growth, cost control, staffing stability, and the development and promotion of team members.

Ideal candidates possess a four-year college degree or equivalent experience, with at least two years in restaurant management, preferably within TGI Fridays or a similar casual dining environment. Strong business acumen, including proficiency in managing P&L statements, budgets, and financial analyses, is essential. Candidates must be capable of performing all functions related to hourly roles to lead by example and foster a high-performing team culture. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are crucial to adapt to changes and drive continuous improvement across all facets of restaurant operations.

Job Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • minimum of two years of experience as a restaurant kitchen manager or assistant general manager with extensive knowledge of Fridays recipes, policies, standards, and successful past results
  • possess business acumen and ability to manage profit and loss, budgets, and financial projections and analysis
  • capable of performing all functions and meeting qualification standards for hourly positions
  • knowledge of POS system and back office systems to fulfill management functions

Job Duties

  • Manage all day-to-day restaurant operations with a focus on delivering a great guest experience
  • directly supervise and support 3-6 managers and all front-of-house and back-of-house hourly team members
  • manage all profit and loss centers
  • align all behavior with the credo and values
  • execute on all brand standards by managing and coaching team members and managers
  • frequently interact with guests to ensure they receive the Fridays service style experience and follow up on any issues and complaints
  • follow the Bubble Theory to proactively run a shift and anticipate guest needs
  • follow the Hamburger Stand Theory to ensure restaurant and staff are set up for an outstanding shift
  • identify opportunities to drive sales, traffic, and return visits with a four-wall mentality
  • oversee implementation of local store marketing and national marketing promotions
  • determine current and future staffing needs to ensure adequate number of talented team members
  • identify and develop high potential team members and managers
  • provide ongoing and honest feedback, coaching, and development
  • evaluate performance fairly and hold managers and team members accountable
  • create a safe, clean, and discrimination-free environment
  • respond to guest service complaints promptly and appropriately
  • complete all financial and personnel/payroll administrative duties accurately and timely
  • ensure all newly hired team members complete their training plans
  • approve disciplinary actions relating to termination
  • validate inventory per company standards
  • ensure proper security procedures to protect team members, guests, and company assets
