Job Description

Hotel Heron, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton and managed by Aparium Hotel Group, is a distinguished boutique hotel located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Known for combining historic charm with modern luxury, Hotel Heron offers 134 chic guest rooms, a signature restaurant named KILN serving hearth-inspired Mid-Atlantic cuisine, a craft cocktail bar called Francis Hall, and an open-air rooftop bar, Good Fortune, featuring breathtaking views of the Potomac. The hotel embodies Aparium's unique philosophy of translocal hospitality, where people, place, and character converge to create memorable guest experiences. As a part of the Aparium Hotel Group, which has been recognized among the Top 25 Hotel Brands globally by Travel + Leisure, Hotel Heron stands out by blending the strengths of large hospitality enterprises with the intimacy and charm of boutique hotels, especially in vibrant, smaller markets. The hotel is committed to honoring the legacies and artisans of the local community, offering state-of-the-art amenities such as a modern fitness center and versatile meeting spaces geared towards socializing, working, and relaxing. With a strong emphasis on people-centered service and collaborative culture, Hotel Heron represents not just a place to stay, but a destination to explore a local neighborhood's story and innovation.

The role of General Manager at Hotel Heron is a pivotal leadership position reporting directly to the Regional Vice President of Operations. This exempt position is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the hotel, ensuring alignment with Aparium’s core values of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and a collaborative culture. The General Manager drives the hotel’s financial performance, guest satisfaction, and associate engagement while actively engaging with the local community as a true ambassador and connector. This role requires a dynamic, adventurous, and gregarious individual who thrives on exploring new experiences and building meaningful relationships within the neighborhood and the wider hospitality industry. The General Manager leads by example, exercising insightful strategic planning, team leadership, and operational excellence while fostering an environment where both guests and employees feel valued and inspired. Responsibilities extend beyond typical hotel operations to include active participation in community service, close partnerships with local artisans and businesses, and deep involvement in the hotel’s food and beverage programs. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader who understands the nuances of managing a boutique hotel with upper-up scale standards, demonstrating emotional maturity, intelligence, and an ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships. This role offers the unique opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping the guest experience in a culturally rich and evolving urban setting, supported by one of the hospitality industry's most innovative brands.
