Job Description

Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista is part of the esteemed Hyatt Place brand, renowned for providing guests with a comfortable and modern hotel experience enriched by friendly service and exceptional cleanliness standards. Managed under the ownership and operation of MCR, the third-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States, this hotel is committed to delivering outstanding hospitality within one of the world’s most vibrant travel destinations. MCR’s extensive portfolio consists of 148 premium-branded hotels, which are spread across 37 states and 106 cities, exemplifying their expansive hospitality footprint and commitment to quality. Having won multiple prestigious industry awards, including being named one of Fast Company's 10 Most Innovative Travel Companies of 2020, MCR upholds strong values centered around innovation, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.

The role at Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista is that of a General Manager, a leadership position that demands dedication to the core mission of the property: ensuring spotless cleanliness and friendly service while maintaining every room online daily. The General Manager is tasked with overseeing the performance and daily duties of all managers and team members, guaranteeing that every shift runs smoothly, checklists are accurately completed, and the hotel operates at the highest standard of quality and service. This position requires a dynamic individual skilled in guest relations, operations management, team leadership, and problem-solving within the hospitality industry.

Among the primary responsibilities, the General Manager conducts daily walkthroughs of both guest rooms and public spaces to monitor cleanliness and service standards and to confirm all mechanical equipment is functioning properly. This role involves onboarding new team members, ensuring they meet the friendly service criteria and follow all processes and procedures. The General Manager also oversees auditing processes including the Daily Summary and Night Audit tasks, ensuring compliance with company policies and the submission of accurate reports. Quality assurance checks form an integral part of the job, aiming to uphold the brand’s standards through self-audits and making improvements based on external reviews.

Additionally, the General Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment with strong teamwork, communication, and coaching techniques that cultivate employee development and career growth opportunities. Maintenance of safety standards, including fire and life safety inspections, is also an essential function. Operational efficiency is ensured by managing work schedules, time clock reviews, purchase order processes, invoice signoff, and inventory control, all aimed at maintaining a well-organized and smoothly functioning property.

Success in this role is measured by management performance ratings, guest satisfaction scores, leadership walkthrough evaluations, and adherence to product quality and teamwork standards. The ideal candidate must possess a blend of a can-do attitude, hospitality expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. They must also demonstrate proficiency in technology and financial understanding relevant to hotel operations.

This full-time position offers a rewarding career path within a respected and expansive hospitality organization. Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista and MCR prioritize employee well-being by providing competitive benefits including hotel discounts, weekly pay, paid time off, retirement options, referral bonuses, and health, dental, and vision insurance after 30 days for full-time employees. The General Manager role represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional eager to lead a thriving hotel property while contributing to MCR's ongoing success and commitment to innovation and guest satisfaction.
