Job Description
Flight 509, located in Spokane Valley, WA, is a bustling Family Entertainment Center (FEC) that provides a diverse range of recreational activities including arcade games, bowling, laser tag, food and beverage services, and private event hosting. This venue is well-known for drawing a large number of visitors who come to enjoy a fun and engaging environment designed for families and groups seeking entertainment and dining options all in one place. As part of their strategic restructuring toward streamlined and performance-driven operations, Flight 509 is actively seeking a highly capable and driven General Manager to assume full operational control of the facility.
Flight 509 functions as a dynamic family entertainment hub where the General Manager plays a critical leadership role. The successful candidate will hold comprehensive accountability for the day-to-day operations and overall financial performance of the center. This position is truly an operator role, with direct responsibility for enforcing operational standards, managing staff, and ensuring a high-quality guest experience consistently. The General Manager will work closely with ownership, who oversees accounting, capital planning, and long-term strategic direction, while having autonomous authority to run the building and make key decisions related to revenue management, cost control, and team leadership.
This role demands a proactive leader who thrives in a hands-on environment and is adept at balancing multiple operational aspects, including labor discipline and scheduling, food cost oversight, shrink reduction, inventory management, and the execution of engaging promotions and event programs. Staffing authority is significant, with responsibilities including hiring, training, supervising, and terminating personnel to maintain an efficient and motivated team. Leaders who have a knack for fostering a positive culture while driving business results will find this position both challenging and rewarding.
Candidates should expect to commit to a 45-50 hour workweek, embracing a work schedule primarily from Wednesday through Sunday with afternoon and evening presence during peak hours essential for operational success. This schedule reflects the center’s need to maintain a strong management presence when customer traffic is highest. Competitive compensation is offered, starting with a base salary in the range of $82,000 to $85,000, accompanied by a performance-based bonus tied to EBITDA, labor percentage, and revenue growth metrics. Additional benefits include a $500 monthly health stipend, vacation time starting at one week in the first year and increasing to two weeks from the second year onward, and valuable upside potential for those who excel in the role.
The ideal candidate brings at least three years of senior leadership experience in high-volume hospitality or entertainment settings such as restaurants, bowling alleys, or similar venues. Strong financial acumen, especially P&L literacy, is critical, as is a proven track record in labor cost control and food and beverage operations management. Equally important is the ability to make tough staffing decisions decisively and maintain a high-accountability ownership mindset. Those familiar with the family entertainment center working environment will have an advantage, but such experience is not mandatory. Flight 509 is committed to finding a performance-driven leader ready to take full ownership and drive the center to new heights of operational excellence and guest satisfaction.
