This role at Sonic Drive-In is that of a Drive-In Manager, a vital position responsible for overseeing all daily operations, training, and development of employees within the restaurant. The Drive-In Manager leads the team to uphold Sonic Drive-In’s standards of food quality, cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. This position demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced environment effectively. It is a full-time role requiring a commitment of at least 50 hours per week, including the flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours to meet the demands of the business.

As a Drive-In Manager, you will play a key role in managing all aspects of store operations including staffing, training, scheduling, inventory control, safety and compliance with labor laws, health regulations, and quality standards. You will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, and developing a competent crew and management team, ensuring continuous high-quality service during every shift. The manager also oversees operational reports, addresses financial and sales challenges, implements marketing plans, and ensures employees consistently put guest satisfaction first.

Your leadership will help maintain the efficient functioning of various operational stations such as Fountain and Frozen, Grill, Food Prep, Carhop service, and Drive-Thru if applicable. You will be responsible for coaching team members to meet portion control, temperature controls, food presentation, and customer service criteria. The position involves direct involvement in opening and closing procedures and may require you to step into basic station duties to maintain service standards during peak business periods.

This position requires comprehensive knowledge of employment regulations and wage laws as well as health and sanitation laws to ensure full compliance. The Drive-In Manager must possess strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and basic accounting knowledge for payroll and operational tasks. Time management, organization, and decision-making are essential skills to thrive in this leadership role.

Job Duties

  • Manages, trains and coaches drive-in employees, management and conducts orientation
  • Directs and assigns drive-in employees and management to perform all duties in the Basic Stations during a shift
  • Adheres to and monitors employee compliance of the drive-in employee handbook, policies and practices
  • Performs opening and/or closing duties to standard
  • Monitors and makes appropriate adjustments to staffing levels during assigned shift
  • Prepares employee work schedules in a timely manner
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels and places orders within cost control procedures
  • Monitors performance of vendors
  • Completes and maintains all drive-in employment-related records and payroll records
  • Reinforces the importance of placing guests' needs first
  • Immediately resolves guest requests and complaints
  • Recruits, interviews and hires crew and management team members
  • Determines compensation levels within company guidelines
  • Prepares operational reports and develops action plans for financial or sales issues
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan
