The General Manager role at MV Transportation is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of an assigned transportation contract location. The General Manager ensures that business plans are executed effectively, operational goals are met, and compliance with company policies and contracting agency requirements is maintained. This full-time role offers a competitive starting salary range from $126,108 to $144,123, reflecting the importance of the responsibilities involved.

As a General Manager, you will lead a diverse team including drivers, dispatchers, call takers, supervisors, and subordinate managers, ensuring that all team members are aligned with company standards and operational excellence. You will direct the implementation of standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and training programs to uphold regulatory compliance, including DOT and FTA standards. The role requires a hands-on approach to managing customer relations, operational metrics, financial performance, labor relations, and client interactions to exceed service expectations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years experience in transportation operations or related industry
  • At least three years supervisory experience
  • Experience in labor and union negotiations
  • Knowledge of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, safety DOT and FTA compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and multi-tasking abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year college or equivalent experience
  • Management experience required
  • Multimode experience preferred including fixed route, paratransit, and microtransit
  • Minimum of five years experience in transportation operations or similar industry with at least three years supervisory experience
  • Labor/union negotiations/expenses expertise
  • Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee employees of the contractor and monitor operational activities associated with the scope of work
  • Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs
  • Supervise the daily activities of all drivers, dispatchers, call takers, supervisors, and subordinate managers as well as oversee the development and implementation of standard operation procedures
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members
  • Oversee safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations
