Job Description

MV Transportation is a nationally recognized transportation management company specializing in providing diverse transit solutions to communities, universities, and governmental agencies. MV Transportation is currently seeking an experienced General Manager to lead its university shuttle operations. This role is vital in supporting and overseeing daily operations while providing strategic and operational leadership to assigned locations. As a General Manager, the successful candidate will be entrusted with the responsibility of managing transportation contracts with precision, ensuring compliance with governing policies and company procedures. The General Manager will serve as the pivotal point of contact for client relations, staff leadership, fleet management, safety enforcement, operational auditing, and financial oversight.

This position requires an individual who is adept at managing multiple facets of transportation operations, including workforce development, vehicle maintenance, and safety training programs. The General Manager will foster strong relationships with clients, participate in labor relations, and contribute to contract renewals, thus ensuring the longevity and success of the managed operations. An emphasis on proactive communication with staff and a hands-on approach to problem-solving will be essential for meeting and exceeding business objectives.

The role also demands an analytical mindset for regularly reviewing key operational metrics and creating actionable financial and operational plans. The General Manager will develop and present annual budgets, ensuring the location meets its financial goals while adhering to all regulatory and contractual standards. Additionally, the position involves collaboration with various committees to enhance policies, procedures, and programs that govern transportation services.

Ideal candidates will bring advanced knowledge of public transportation management, labor negotiations, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations. Job Requirements

  • four year bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in business administration, public administration, transportation management or related field
  • minimum of ten years of management experience
  • minimum of ten years in public transportation operations or related experience
  • minimum of five years of supervisory experience in transit, operations or logistics
  • labor and union negotiations expertise
  • full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment and safety, DOT and FTA compliance
  • proficiency in MS Office
  • strong analytical skills
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • high degree of multi-tasking skills

Job Qualifications
