Job Requirements

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years of related experience
  • or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
  • maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • effective verbal and written communication with all employee and guest levels

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions using steps to effective training according to Highgate Hotel standards
  • meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • hold monthly financial reviews with department managers, M.I.D.s and supervisors
  • ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard accounting procedures
  • develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored programs
  • conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
  • play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including client meetings and hosting receptions
  • participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • maintain contact with and monitor the development of management trainees
  • adhere to Highgate Hotel policies and train new managers on compliance
  • oversee and assist in budget process as required
  • ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department
  • assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest service
  • inspect rooms weekly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • ensure complete processing of invoices daily
  • submit monthly financial documents to Corporate Office in compliance with accounting calendar
  • ensure cleanliness and maintenance of physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance
  • ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in interactions
  • forecast monthly financial position by estimating revenues and expenses
  • conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • interview final candidates for management positions
  • perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals
  • motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel
  • perform additional duties assigned by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
  • meet clients on property and assist sales efforts
  • greet guests in public areas during peak times
  • ensure hotel safe security and monthly audits
  • conduct monthly credit meetings and manage credit policies
  • complete corporate training modules and become certified to train others
  • ensure scheduled meetings take place on property
