Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel administration, business administration or related field preferred
  • three years as a general manager, operations manager, and/or director of sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • ability to travel including some overnight travel
  • valid driver's license required
  • frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • exposure to commercial cleaning chemicals
  • carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • frequently handling objects and equipment
  • required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients
  • manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
  • create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied with guest amenities and maintain cleanliness
  • manage direct sales activities in partnership with regional and global sales teams
  • manage seasonal demand strategy with revenue management
  • sell hotel rooms directly through client contact
  • establish and implement service recovery guidelines for guest satisfaction
  • manage front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations through supervision
  • oversee physical plant maintenance with maintenance manager
  • attend social and breakfast events as a hotel management representative
  • lead development and monitoring of capital and operational budgets
  • partner with finance on hotel financial conditions
  • ensure proper process for managing hotel funds
  • manage physical building condition and maintenance budgets
  • oversee human resources functions including recruitment and training
  • ensure proper management of IT hardware and software
  • manage procurement of supplies and hotel spending analysis
  • enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  • act as manager on duty as required
  • ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol laws
  • perform other assigned duties
