Job Requirements

  • Must be mobile between work stations and numerous campus buildings
  • must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • must be able to bend over lift up and down and climb stairs
  • demonstrated ability to read and follow written instructions such as menu and production sheets
  • ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • working knowledge of safety precautions associated with the food service industry
  • prior experience in dining service preferred
  • excellent interpersonal skills
  • prior cashier experience
  • demonstrated ability to utilize dining service equipment such as slicer deep fryer grill and steamer
  • must be available to work catered events and special functions
  • considered essential staff and must work during declared bad weather days

Job Duties

  • Prepares box/bulk meals catering trays and bake desserts from mixes
  • bakes vegan desserts from scratch
  • sets up and breaks down steam tables before and after meals
  • oversees front of house
  • serves meals to customers ensuring proper portion size and notifying cook of refill needs
  • grills or deep fries foods and refills items as needed
  • cleans spills and maintains a neat and visually pleasing line
  • sweeps and mops as needed
  • cleans slicer and mixer when used
  • steams and bakes
  • assists in food preparation including slicing meat and cheese and preparing salads for salad/deli bar
  • cleans work area and equipment
  • checks customers as they enter dining hall for meal tickets and acts as cashier for paying customers
  • washes tables and cleans dining room
  • maintains temperature logs and produce sheets
  • maintains cleanliness of reach-in coolers ensuring products are kept at 40 degrees or below
  • cleans used kitchen equipment
  • adheres to sanitation standards and performs other assigned job duties
  • assists in training student staff and sets up and maintains front of house including hot and cold beverages, yogurt toppings, breads, condiments, snacks, cookies, and cereals
