Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 12 background checks
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours at a time, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb stairs
  • Must have ServSafe certification or be able to obtain it
  • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications

  • Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Proficient in oral and written communication with customers, co-workers, and management
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, menus, and production sheets
  • Solid reading, hearing, and speaking skills
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • Good manual dexterity and good sight
  • Ability to move between workstations and across campus buildings
  • Working knowledge of food service safety precautions
  • Familiarity with basic cooking procedures including steaming, baking, deep frying, and grilling
  • Ability to utilize dining service equipment such as slicers, deep fryers, grills, and steamers
  • Prior cashier experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Serve meals to customers, ensuring proper quality and portion size, while maintaining the highest level of customer service
  • Update temperature logs at each meal and communicate needs to cooks
  • Maintain front of house serving areas including beverage stations, salad and deli bars, serving lines, snack and dessert areas, and dining room
  • Ensure areas are fully stocked, visual presentation is correct, and areas are clean
  • Work as a cashier for the Retail and dining hall operations by swiping ID cards and processing cash or credit card transactions
  • Assist in basic food preparation such as slicing deli meats and cheeses, chopping vegetables, preparing salads, desserts, and fruits
  • Assist in sanitation tasks including dish room work, maintaining trash and recycling areas, sweeping, mopping, and wiping tables and counters
  • Adhere to sanitation standards and local, state, and federal guidelines
  • Assist in training student worker staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed
