The role available is focused on maintaining cleanliness and efficiency within the galley onboard the cruise ship. This position is integral to the smooth operation of the kitchen and overall food service areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all preparation areas, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to stringent standards. In addition to maintaining high sanitation levels, this role also includes assisting with food preparation and plating during busy times. Proper management of food supply storage and rotation to maintain freshness and reduce waste is an important aspect of this position. The individual will assist with loading and unloading food and supplies, help with waste disposal in line with company policies, and maintain accurate inventory of cleaning materials. Strong collaboration with kitchen staff and adherence to safety and sanitation protocols are essential to uphold a safe and efficient working environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and sanitation procedures
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
  • strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • good communication and interpersonal skills
  • must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test

Job Duties

  • Clean and sanitize all surfaces, equipment, and utensils in the galley, following established cleaning procedures onboard the cruise ship
  • assist with food preparation and plating when needed
  • properly store and rotate food supplies to ensure freshness and prevent waste
  • assist with loading and unloading of food and supplies
  • dispose of waste and garbage in accordance with company policies and regulations
  • maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report any shortages to the kitchen manager
  • follow all safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
  • assist with other duties as assigned by the kitchen manager
