Job Description

Baker Tilly is a premier advisory, tax, and assurance firm recognized for delivering comprehensive professional services across key regions in the United States and around the globe. With offices located in major financial centers including New York, London, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Boston, Baker Tilly positions itself as a global powerhouse within the accounting, consulting, and advisory industry. The firm operates through a unique alternative practice structure under Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP and Baker Tilly US, LLP, offering a broad range of audit, tax, and business advisory services while complying with stringent professional standards as mandated by the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and applicable legal frameworks. This structure enables Baker Tilly to provide tailored, high-quality services that meet the evolving needs of its diverse client base.

Baker Tilly is an independent member of Baker Tilly International, a vast global network consisting of independent accounting and business advisory firms spanning 141 territories, employing over 43,000 professionals, and generating a collective revenue of $5.2 billion worldwide. This affiliation ensures that clients benefit from an unrivaled breadth of knowledge, technical expertise, and local market insights, giving them a significant competitive advantage in their business operations. Baker Tilly is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, operating as an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.

The role of GAAP Compilation Senior Consultant is situated within the firm's Public Sector group, specializing in serving state and local governments as well as other specialized government entities like counties, boroughs, cities, villages, school districts, utilities, and agencies across the United States. This position is crafted for experienced professionals who thrive on delivering accurate and compliant financial compilations under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

As a GAAP Compilation Senior Consultant, the selected candidate will play a vital role in overseeing day-to-day compilation activities, ensuring adherence to professional standards, and identifying complex accounting and reporting issues to support sound financial practices for governmental clients. The role demands not only technical accounting proficiency but also a proactive approach toward business process improvements tailored to the unique operational environments of public sector clients. Effective communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as the consultant will act as a primary liaison providing exceptional client service and guidance.

In addition to client-facing responsibilities, this position entails supervising and mentoring junior staff members, providing expert counsel, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of continuous learning through active participation in professional development opportunities. The ideal candidate will also contribute to talent acquisition efforts by engaging in campus recruitment, referring qualified professionals, and participating in the firm’s Employee Referral Bonus Program. While travel requirements are limited, occasional travel may be necessary to fulfill client obligations and attend industry events.

Baker Tilly values ethical conduct, teamwork, positive attitude, and professional integrity, making this an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional to advance their career in a supportive and dynamic environment while making a meaningful impact in the public sector financial landscape.
