Job Description

The Chef Ann Foundation (CAF) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2009 that champions the mission that all children deserve access to fresh, healthy, and delicious food to support their growth, learning, and well-being. The Foundation is dedicated to transforming school food systems across the United States by providing the resources, funding, and support necessary to facilitate scratch-cooked meals in schools. This approach aligns with CAF's sustainable vision of fostering children's health and environmental stewardship by helping schools transition from pre-packaged meals to from-scratch cooking. Over the past decade, the Foundation has made a significant impact, reaching more than 19,000 schools and serving over 5.9 million children in all 50 states. This expansive reach highlights CAF's leadership role in school food reform efforts nationwide and reflects its commitment to equity and inclusion in nourishing school communities.

The organization is a fully remote team headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, with staff members spread throughout the contiguous United States. CAF offers competitive salary ranges based on role levels, including Coordinator/Entry Level ranging approximately $50,692 to $63,948, Specialist/Lead Level from $66,027 to $89,215, and Director Level from $80,943 to $113,115. Compensation packages are tailored according to project scopes and market data.

The Chef Ann Foundation is currently accepting applications through an evergreen or pipeline posting for positions anticipated in its 2026-2027 growth phase. By applying, candidates join CAF's priority talent pool, positioning themselves for future opportunities within the organization as grants become funded or new roles open. The Foundation values mission alignment and looks for passionate individuals who believe in school food reform and share a dedication to ensuring every child has access to nourishing, scratch-cooked meals.

Team members typically engage in varied responsibilities, including culinary training workshops emphasizing professional knife skills, bulk cooking, and recipe scaling designed to empower school food staff. They conduct operational assessments analyzing school kitchen infrastructure, procurement habits, and financial data to develop actionable roadmaps for successful implementation of scratch cooking initiatives. Program management duties entail overseeing the rollout of initiatives such as Get Schools Cooking and the Healthy School Food Pathway, while advocacy and engagement work fosters meaningful connections with school boards, parents, and administrators to advocate for systemic school food reform.

CAF fosters a culture grounded in equity and inclusion, welcoming diverse perspectives and celebrating the strength that comes from varied voices and backgrounds. The Foundation embraces a remote work model supported by robust virtual tools, including Google Workspace (G-Suite) and Zoom, facilitating seamless collaboration across the country. This remote setup encourages flexibility and accessibility for team members located anywhere within the contiguous United States.

Team members benefit from a comprehensive package that includes medical, pharmacy, dental, vision insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, group life insurance, accident and critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, and generous paid parental and sabbatical leaves along with holidays and paid time off. This full-spectrum benefits offering reinforces CAF's commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy work environment.

The Chef Ann Foundation is an equal-opportunity employer that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. They encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply, ensuring that the team and community continue to be strengthened by new voices and experiences. Prospective employees are invited to share their unique "School Food Story" as part of the application process, underscoring the organization’s emphasis on personal connection and passion for the work.
