The Store Manager Trainee (SMT) program at ALDI is a full-time career development opportunity designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage their own store successfully. Store Manager Trainees are responsible for developing leadership competencies through managing store personnel, overseeing operational processes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. The position demands strong customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive team culture. Trainees will also learn how to create effective action plans, handle personnel decisions, and maintain safety standards within the store environment. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old required
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in a retail environment
  • prior management experience
  • full-time store manager trainees must have flexibility to travel within divisional requirements

Job Duties

  • Communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports to ensure desired results
  • leads and develops store personnel
  • develops and implements action plans using company provided resources to improve operating results
  • oversees the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with the district manager as needed
  • interviews candidates for store positions and provides recommendations to the district manager
  • manages personnel including recommending personnel for advancement and termination as appropriate
  • communicates, cooperates, and interacts effectively with all levels of ALDI personnel, customers, third-party vendors and business partners
  • collaborates in the resolution of any issues within the store to minimize potential liability
  • leads, develops, and supervises the team to develop sales, engage teams, satisfy customers and achieve consistent high performance
  • understands and oversees execution of company strategy and models core values
  • fosters a positive and collaborative working environment and promotes teamwork
  • oversees and manages compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • trains and develops store personnel to achieve maximum professional potential
  • observes and evaluates employees' work performance and provides feedback and coaching
  • ensures store personnel comply with customer service guidelines and appropriate interactions
  • resolves concerns from personnel and customers independently or escalates as necessary
  • models and supervises compliance with company policies
  • ensures a safe working environment by identifying hazards and maintaining equipment
  • prepares, manages and revises weekly schedules
  • ensures adherence to expense, inventory, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize losses
  • maintains store zone and merchandising standards
  • acts to improve operational results and implements personnel and operational plans to achieve KPI goals and budgets
  • attends and participates in meetings such as district operations calls, one-to-ones and training sessions
  • plans and conducts meetings including team meetings, management meetings, training sessions and company events
