The role of a store associate at ALDI is pivotal to maintaining the store's smooth operation and delivering an exceptional shopping experience for customers. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 30 hours per week, with a starting wage of $20.00 per hour. Wage increases are structured and competitive, with increments occurring annually up to $22.00 per hour by the fifth year. The store associate plays an integral role by handling several responsibilities including merchandising, stocking shelves according to planograms, cashiering, and maintaining cleanliness standards throughout the store.

Store associates are expected to embody ALDI’s customer service principles, ensuring every shopper receives friendly and prompt assistance. They work collaboratively with the broader ALDI team to ensure operational goals such as efficiency and loss prevention are met. The role demands a versatile individual capable of performing a variety of physical tasks like lifting products up to 45 pounds, operating equipment like cash registers and pallet jacks, and working in various environmental conditions including coolers and freezers.

In addition to the operational duties, store associates are responsible for completing curbside pickup orders accurately and efficiently, an increasingly important aspect of modern grocery shopping. Safety is a top priority, with associates required to identify and resolve hazards to create a secure working environment for themselves and their colleagues. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years old required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
  • Ability to operate all store equipment such as cash registers, floor scrubber, cardboard baler, pallet jacks, handheld devices, computers, etc
  • Ability to interpret and apply ALDI operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks to maximize productivity within established timeframes
  • Ability to maintain reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to meet availability requirements

Job Duties

  • Model and fulfill all customer service principles and escalate concerns to store management as necessary
  • Inform store management of loss due to outdated or damaged products
  • Properly utilize the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and inform store management of scanning concerns or errors
  • Adhere to cash policies and procedures
  • Follow the line policy and open additional check lanes as required to ensure an efficient checkout
  • Stock shelves and displays neatly while following merchandising planograms to maximize sales
  • Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area
  • Maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times
  • Assist store management in achieving operational efficiency goals
  • Assist store management in achieving total loss goals
  • Comply with all established company policies and processes
  • Support store management in providing a safe working environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order
  • Adhere to inventory procedures and product handling guidelines
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to company standards
