Job Description
UPMC Presbyterian 3E is a distinguished unit within the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center network, renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional medical care. This particular unit, 3E CT Surgery Cardiology, specializes in the treatment and recovery of patients with complex heart conditions, including those recovering from cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries. With an 18-bed capacity, the unit handles a variety of cases ranging from medical cardiology to post-operative care. Patients here frequently undergo advanced procedures such as stent placements, electrophysiology treatments, and may require specialized cardiac care involving chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and intravenous cardiac medications.
UPMC Presbyterian 3E is currently hiring a Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge to become a vital part of their compassionate and dedicated team of healthcare professionals. This role is integral to ensuring a superior patient and visitor experience, functioning as the welcoming face and supportive presence throughout the patient’s hospital journey. The Patient & Family Concierge will operate on a rotating shift schedule from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., covering all days of the week including holidays and weekends, reflecting the commitment to continuous patient care and support.
The Patient & Family Concierge plays a multifaceted role in the hospital environment. The primary objective is to facilitate a welcoming, safe, and efficient experience for patients, their families, and visitors. This involves providing compassionate service, assisting with wayfinding, supporting environmental maintenance, and facilitating communication and transport within the hospital. The Concierge helps bridge the gap between clinical staff and patients by ensuring a seamless flow of operations and addressing the diverse needs that arise in a busy hospital setting.
Key responsibilities include guiding patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, supporting patient meal delivery following health and safety protocols, assisting with patient transport, and helping maintain cleanliness and order within patient rooms and public areas. They also manage supply levels, support telehealth appointment setups, and respond to patient calls and basic needs in line with UPMC service standards and infection control guidelines.
This role demands strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a deep commitment to patient care. While previous healthcare or customer service experience is advantageous, the position is open to individuals who demonstrate the desire and aptitude to learn and contribute positively. Educationally, candidates should have completed high school or its equivalent, or have relevant job experience. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately is essential.
Joining UPMC Presbyterian 3E as a Patient & Family Concierge offers the opportunity to work in a respected healthcare environment dedicated to quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
