Full-Time Night Custodian (2 Positions)

District 62 is seeking a dedicated full-time Night Custodian to join its maintenance team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the schools during the non-operational hours of the day. The Night Custodian assignment will be in one elementary school within the district.

The Night Custodian is responsible for completing specific room cleaning assignments and daily routine work based on a structured work schedule tailored to the needs of each building and position. In addition to these regular maintenance duties, the Night Custodian is expected to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, assigned by the Head Custodian, Building Principal, or Director of Maintenance and Operations. During school break periods, such as summer, winter, and spring breaks, the work assignments may vary and are assigned on a daily basis by the Head Custodian, who coordinates these plans with approval from the Director of Maintenance and Operations and the Building Principal.

The working hours for this position differ slightly depending on the school level. For elementary schools, the shift is from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and for middle schools, it is from 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM. This position offers a starting salary of $45,427 annually and includes fully paid individual health benefits. The role is part of the Custodian-Maintenance Association union, with corresponding salaries governed by a collective bargaining agreement. The position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to lift up to eighty pounds as part of the physical demands of the job.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills in English. A valid Illinois Driver's License is also required, highlighting the need for candidates to be capable of safe transportation and job-related travel.
