The Cook role is crucial to maintaining the high standards of food preparation and presentation that the company is known for. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sous Chef and kitchen team to ensure that all food items are prepared to perfection, efficiently portioned, and beautifully presented. The Cook is also responsible for maintaining sanitation and safety within their work area, helping to foster a secure environment for all team members. This role requires a solid foundation in food preparation techniques, knowledge of kitchen operations including broiler, pantry, and sauté stations, as well as the ability to cooperate with purchasing and receiving functions. Furthermore, possessing a Serve Safe certification is mandatory as it underscores the establishment's dedication to food safety and regulatory compliance.
In this position, the Cook is expected to bring a team-oriented spirit, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to their work duties. They must have the capacity to handle physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods in a kitchen environment that involves exposure to heat and cold. The role includes essential tasks ranging from preparing and cooking food items, assisting with food preparation for events, to maintaining cleanliness and operating kitchen equipment safely. Job Duties
- working knowledge of broiler, pantry and sauté stations
- confers with Sous Chef for menu requirements and food supplies for preparation
- prepares and cooks food according to specifications, proper presentation, and sanitary standards
- portions food and issues to server upon order
- prepares all cold side items according to menus and specials
- makes daily preparations of menu items with high quality and presentation
- assists in other food preparation for events as needed
- cleans work area when cooking is completed
- assists in keeping kitchen area clean including walk-in freezers and dry storage
- operates equipment in safe and sanitary manner
- reports to Sous Chef or supervisor on food supply shortages or other station problems
- assists in receiving and storage of food when necessary
- performs other duties as requested
- cooks hot side food items for banquets and assists other cooks
- breaks down station at end of shift, turns off equipment and lights, locks storage areas
