Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of related work experience
  • ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 70 lbs
  • ability to stand continuously during work hours
  • ability to bend knees multiple times daily
  • ability to move 30-50 feet regularly throughout the day
  • ability to hear and communicate effectively with staff
  • ability to see and ensure proper food preparation
  • ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of related experience preferred
  • knowledge of cooking practices and kitchen procedures
  • ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work
  • ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • strong communication skills

Job Duties

  • Check all items against the recipe cards
  • verify that use records are followed for all items served
  • ensure food is presented efficiently and at quality standards
  • monitor line set up prior to meal functions for maximum efficiency
  • enforce kitchen clean as you go policy
  • prepare food following recipe cards and production standards
  • start food items prepared ahead without exceeding estimated needs
  • date and rotate food containers per SOP
  • check pars for shift use and prepare necessary items
  • note any out-of-stock items or shortages
  • assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • return unused food items to storage with proper coverage and dating
  • assist in plans to correct food cost issues
  • control food waste, loss and usage per SOP
