Job Description

Willow Oaks Country Club, established in 1957, is a prestigious member-owned country club located in Richmond, Virginia, beautifully situated along the banks of the James River. The club offers a comprehensive range of athletic and dining facilities, including an 18-hole golf course with practice areas, eight outdoor lighted tennis courts, four indoor tennis courts, fitness centers, and a swimming pool. Willow Oaks Country Club is currently seeking a full-time Line Cook who is passionate about culinary arts and eager to grow within the industry. This role is ideal for candidates who are seeking better work-life balance compared to the late-night shifts typically associated with many line cook positions. The position requires a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented mindset. Candidates will ideally have experience in hot-side cooking, especially with sauté or grill stations, along with proficiency in food preparation. Availability is vital, as the role necessitates working weekends, especially Sundays, holidays, and varying shifts generally ranging from early morning (6am-2pm) to evening (2pm-10pm) hours Tuesday through Sunday.

The starting hourly wage is $19, which varies based on experience. Responsibilities in this role include maintaining clean and sanitary work areas, setting up and breaking down cooking stations, mastering the menu including portion sizes, side dishes, and garnishes, and preparing food for banquet events according to club standards. Additionally, the line cook will assist chefs in banquet preparations, ensure a professional appearance and strict adherence to cleanliness standards, and perform other tasks assigned by the Chef. Employment is contingent upon passing a drug test and a background check. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in cooking and sautéing

Job Duties

  • Ensures that assigned work areas and equipment are clean and sanitary
  • Sets up, maintains and breaks down prep cook station
  • Learn the menu, including all items, their mise en place and appropriate side dishes and/or garnish
  • Serves items in accordance with established portions and presentation standards
  • Prepare food for banquet events in accordance with club recipes and standards
  • Assist chefs in preparing and serving banquet items
  • Maintains neat professional appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules at all times
  • Assists with other duties as assigned by Chef
