The Starbucks Department within Harris Teeter stores plays a pivotal role in enhancing the shopping experience by providing high-quality coffee beverages and related products to customers.

The Assistant Department Manager position at Harris Teeter's Starbucks Department is a full-time role designed to support the Department Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth departmental function. This leadership role involves supervising up to 12 associates, guiding them in delivering unparalleled customer service while maintaining operational efficiency. The Assistant Department Manager is tasked with various supervisory responsibilities, including ordering and receiving product inventory, completing necessary paperwork, interviewing and training staff, planning and assigning work tasks, conducting performance appraisals, and resolving customer or associate issues.

This role requires a proactive, communicative individual with strong interpersonal skills who is capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining a positive and customer-focused attitude. The position also emphasizes community involvement and teamwork, encouraging the Assistant Department Manager to actively participate in local activities and training sessions to promote store success and customer satisfaction. The position demands a solid understanding of food safety and safety protocols, with certification requirements such as the AST certificate. Furthermore, the role includes physical demands like standing or walking for extended periods, lifting and moving merchandise, and dealing with various work environment conditions, including exposure to mechanical parts, humidity, and occasional chemicals.

Joining Harris Teeter as an Assistant Department Manager offers an opportunity to grow within a respected grocery retail environment that values teamwork, customer service, and community engagement.
