Job Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer including inputting and modifying information
  • Less than 1 year of experience using retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation
  • Availability to work flexible hours in a retail store environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Willingness to adhere to safety policies and store procedures
  • Ability to work standing and moving for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and customer focus

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
  • Experience recommending and selling products and services including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, protection plans, and warranties
  • Experience as a head cashier
  • Experience working in a Lowe's retail store
  • Supervisory experience including directing, delegating, training, and coaching employees
  • Ability to identify common signs of shoplifting
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple customers simultaneously
  • Basic computer and retail technology proficiency

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates ability to monitor and identify customers who need assistance at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously
  • Approaches and interacts with customers to proactively recommend products and services appropriately
  • Proactively greets, assists, and engages with multiple customers on multiple registers at the same time
  • Moves throughout the checkout area standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and moving product to ensure accurate completion of transactions
  • Thanks the customer for their business and invites them back to shop at Lowe's
  • Provides SMART customer service through daily execution of Lowe's service policies and procedures
  • Seeks out customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds promptly and knowledgeably to customer and employee questions
  • Communicates information to customers about stock, special orders, warranties, and features
  • Coaches, develops, provides feedback, and trains associates in departmental duties or sales opportunities
  • Uses cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds
  • Provides proper monetary change to front end associates
  • Provides supervision, coaching, and support to front end team
  • Removes security tags, verifies product info, and bags merchandise
  • Answers phone calls and directs or takes messages
  • Opens additional registers as needed for coverage
  • Assists in line vesting for quicker checkout turnaround
  • Prepares register area by confirming functionality and stocking supplies
  • Inspects returned merchandise for damages
  • Enters and submits customer orders, prints tickets, verifies receipts, and signs off on loading tickets
  • Reviews and places online orders and returned merchandise
  • Looks up product info and competitor prices for price matches
  • Records store use items
  • Monitors cash in drawers and uses safety bags
  • Monitors merchandise entering and leaving store to assist with alarms
  • Detects signs of shoplifting and communicates to management
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping and safety standards
  • Maintains safe work environment including safety reviews and securing areas
  • Adheres to safety requirements such as top stock safety and use of safety devices
  • Operates store equipment as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
