Job Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer including inputting, accessing, modifying or outputting information
  • Less than 1 year of experience using common retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Must be at least 18 years old or meet local age requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier or in a customer-facing role
  • Experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs
  • Ability to use retail technology such as smartphones and tablets
  • Supervisory experience, including coaching and training employees, preferred
  • Knowledge of store safety procedures and security risk detection
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate store equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple registers simultaneously
  • Physical ability to lift items up to 15 pounds
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to various store duties.

Job Duties

  • Monitor and identify customers who need assistance at multiple self-checkout registers simultaneously
  • Proactively greet, assist, and engage customers on multiple registers
  • Recommend products and services appropriately to customers
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using the cash register
  • Provide proper monetary change to front-end associates for register activities
  • Coach, develop, provide feedback, and train associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities
  • Supervise and support the front-end team, including loaders
  • Prepare register areas at shift start and end, verifying functionality and stocking supplies
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages
  • Enter and submit customer orders, verify receipts, and print loading tickets
  • Review and place online orders and manage returned merchandise
  • Verify product information and competitor prices for price matching
  • Monitor store entrances and security systems, assist customers or associates triggering alarms
  • Detect and report signs of shoplifting, theft, or security risks
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • Maintain a safe work environment by conducting safety reviews and adhering to safety protocols
  • Operate store equipment including telephones, paging system, computers, CCTV surveillance, and product mixers as needed
  • Open additional registers as needed to ensure coverage
  • Assist in line management and quicker checkout turnaround
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct or take messages as needed
  • Remove security tags and bag merchandise for customers
  • Record all items used in the store on store use lists
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
