Mathematical skills are necessary to manage financial transactions and measure quantities accurately. The ability to read and write simple correspondence in English and present information clearly supports effective team communication and customer interaction.
Physically, the manager must be able to perform tasks involving standing, walking, lifting heavy items up to 100 pounds, and other physical activities necessary to oversee department operations. The working environment consists of exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, occasional fumes, and temperature variations typical of a food retail setting. Harris Teeter provides comprehensive training, including new hire orientation and department manager-specific education, to ensure the successful integration and growth of their employees.
