Job Description
YAI Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the people they serve, YAI provides a variety of services including residential support, community inclusion, and employment opportunities. Established to empower those with special needs, YAI's mission focuses on promoting independence, respect, and community engagement. Operating across multiple locations, the organization emphasizes a respectful and inclusive environment for both its clients and employees, fostering a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous learning.
YAI is currently looking to fill an immediate opening for a Full Time Residential Cook/Housekeeper at their Medford Residence. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in a supportive group home setting. The position involves performing cooking and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment for the residents. Scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with some flexibility, the role promises a well-balanced work schedule suitable for those seeking a full-time position. Compensation is set at $17.50 per hour, reflecting a fair wage for the valuable contributions made by the successful candidate.
The Residential Cook/Housekeeper will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the program site to ensure the health and safety of the residents. Duties include meal planning, food shopping, and preparing meals that cater to various dietary restrictions, ensuring nutritional needs and preferences are met with care. The position requires adherence to YAI's policies, procedures, and regulations, emphasizing the importance of compliance in providing quality care.
This role is integral to the home's supportive environment, requiring teamwork within the circle of support and fostering positive relationships not only with the residents but also with fellow staff members. Candidates will be expected to possess basic communication skills, both written and verbal, along with basic computer knowledge to fulfill administrative responsibilities effectively. A valid driver's license is mandatory, and tuberculosis testing is required for most positions within the organization to uphold health standards.
Candidates with previous work or life experience in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field are highly valued, but not mandatory. Essential interpersonal and problem-solving skills are necessary to address daily challenges proactively, and a willingness to take initiative will help the candidate succeed in this dynamic role. YAI prioritizes candidates who demonstrate dedication, compassion, and the ability to contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
YAI offers a wide range of benefits to support their employees’ well-being and professional growth. Full-time employees receive 100% employer-paid premiums for medical and dental insurance, a retirement plan featuring matching contributions, and generous paid time off. Additionally, the organization provides tuition reimbursement opportunities to encourage career development and lifelong learning. Employees also benefit from discounts on wireless services, gym memberships, and other perks, reflecting YAI's commitment to fostering a supportive workplace.
YAI Network is an Equal Opportunity Employer, ensuring that all qualified applicants receive consideration without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status. In addition to equity in hiring practices, YAI maintains a strict anti-nepotism policy to safeguard fairness and transparency, thereby promoting an equitable workforce environment. This role offers a meaningful career path for individuals dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others while growing within a reputable community-focused organization.
