Currently, Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington is offering an excellent opportunity for a full-time Dietary Cook to join their dedicated team. The Dietary Cook will play a crucial role in preparing meals consistent with dietary guidelines and patient needs, supporting the overall health and recovery of psychiatric patients. This position involves the preparation of meals based on menus and recipes provided by the Dietary Manager and Dietician, focusing on quality, taste, and presentation. Besides food preparation, the Dietary Cook ensures that all processes related to food safety, sanitation, and portion control are rigorously followed to meet regulatory and hospital standards.

In this role, punctuality and organization are key as meal preparation and serving times must align with strict schedules. The Dietary Cook will also maintain cleanliness within the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for both patients and staff. Candidates for the Dietary Cook position are required to hold a High School Diploma or equivalent and possess a current Food Handler's Certification. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Follow menus and recipes as provided by the Dietary Manager and Dietician
  • Prepare meals and beverages according to menu cycle and daily production sheet, providing attention to attractive and tasteful meals
  • Accurately prepare food for modified diets, consulting with Dietary Manager as required
  • Complete and prepare meals in a timely manner as prescribed by posted meal times
  • Follow posted cleaning schedule and ensure a clean work area and dining room at all times
  • Document refrigeration and dish machine temperatures according to posted schedules
  • Adhere to standards for food temperatures during cooking, serving and storage of leftovers
  • Maintain walk-in freezer and storerooms in an orderly fashion, and properly date and label all food items
  • Adhere to appropriate portion control and avoid over production
  • Comply with established guidelines for sanitation and safety
  • Interact with patients in the serving line, helping in the selection of a nutritionally balanced meal
  • Support and encourage harmonious working relationships within the department, as well as with all employees in the facility
  • Aid with washing dishes and maintaining dish room in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Always maintain cleanliness of the dining room and food preparation area
  • Assists with other tasks as directed by the Cook or Dietary Manager
