The current opportunity is for a Cook position at Silverado North Shore. This role is ideal for skilled culinary professionals who are passionate about creating nourishing, delicious meals that contribute directly to the health and happiness of residents in a memory care setting. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet specific dietary needs, ensuring accuracy, quality, presentation, and timeliness. The position requires blending culinary skills with creativity and a genuine heart for hospitality, as those served often have specialized nutritional requirements due to neurodegenerative conditions. Working within a team-focused environment, the Cook must demonstrate dependability, a willingness to learn, and compassionate support for residents. This full-time position involves alternating weekend shifts with hours typically ranging from early morning to evening, offering an anticipated competitive pay range of $20 to $23 per hour. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or educational equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience in food preparation and cooking including grilling, sautéing, broiling, frying, baking
- Food Handlers Certificate from the County Department of Environmental Health
- Knowledge of food safety regulations
- Effective communicator in verbal and written English
- Ability to read and follow menus and recipes including substitutions
- Willingness to work with individuals with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
- Active role involving walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs
- Reliable transportation to meet attendance and punctuality standards
- Comfortable working around animals and pets
