We are currently seeking caring and qualified cooks to join our dietary team. This is a critical role that directly impacts the health and satisfaction of our residents. The cooks at Regency Healthcare are responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to prescribed dietary specifications, facility procedures, and sanitary regulations. Working under the supervision of the Dietary Manager, cooks ensure that meals are nutritious, timely, and appealing to meet the unique dietary needs of each resident. The position involves preparing large quantities of food in adherence to specific recipes and temperature guidelines to maximize food quality and yield.

This role demands a high level of attention to detail, a genuine interest in resident well-being, and excellent communication skills. Cooks are expected to maintain cleanliness standards in the kitchen and comply with all safety and sanitation protocols. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring adaptability and teamwork to meet daily food service demands while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Job Requirements

  • Have experience preparing foods in large quantities while following recipes and specific dietary requirements
  • Be detail oriented
  • Have good communication skills
  • Possess a genuine caring for and interest in residents of the facility
  • Comply with residents' rights and facility policies and procedures
  • Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements
  • Perform essential duties as outlined
  • Be familiar with standard precautions, exposure control, fire drill, and evacuation procedures
  • May work beyond normal duty hours and be subject to call-back during emergency conditions
  • Be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and hazardous chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • Have a current ServeSafe certification
  • Experience in preparing foods in large quantities
  • Detail oriented
  • Good communication skills
  • Genuine caring for and interest in residents of the facility
  • Understand facility policies and procedures
  • Willingness to attend in-service education programs

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook resident meals in quantities according to menu and number of persons served
  • Prepare meals according to proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization and yield of meats and other foods
  • Clean work area and equipment in accordance with sanitation requirements
  • Taste, smell, and observe all foods prepared to confirm with recipes, and good taste and appetizing appearance
  • Consistently prepare meals on time so that serving schedules are being met
  • Serve food according to dietary guidelines, checking each tray for completeness and accuracy
  • Monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents to prevent food waste
  • Prepare foods for facility personnel, families, visitors, and for special occasions and events as directed by the administrator
  • Prepare and serve food and meals in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion, and temperature control procedures and facility policies
  • Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident
  • Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements
  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information
  • Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse
  • Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility
  • Perform others as directed by the supervisor or administrator
