Job Description

Weavers Way is a unique not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting its local community through a member-owned cooperative business model. Unlike traditional companies that prioritize profit alone, Weavers Way operates on a triple bottom line philosophy known as People-Planet-Profit. This thoughtful approach means that every business decision is made with the intention to benefit the community, including employees and local vendors, while also prioritizing environmental sustainability and maintaining financial health to continue supporting its team members and local initiatives. Located in the Mt. Airy area, Weavers Way has grown into a trusted and community-focused establishment that emphasizes keeping economic resources within the local area. Supporting over 300 local food vendors, Weavers Way serves as an essential part of the community's economic and social fabric by promoting sustainable practices and enriching the well-being of its people and planet.

The current opening is for a Prepared Foods Cook at Weavers Way’s Mt. Airy location. This is a full-time role typically requiring 35 or more hours per week. The Prepared Foods Cook position is ideal for an individual who is energetic, community-oriented, and experienced in food preparation within a team environment. The role involves producing high-quality prepared food items in accordance with daily operational needs and established recipes, including pre-wrapping and labeling for sale. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, customer service, and sustainability, fitting perfectly into the cooperative’s mission and values.

In addition to fostering a dedication to quality and community, Weavers Way places strong emphasis on clean, safe kitchen environments with all preparatory staff responsible for maintaining sanitation and cleanup duties. The role includes regular weekend work and active participation in team meetings, departmental functions, and inventory activities. The position requires collaborative work under the guidance of the prepared foods manager or manager on duty, and involves completing performance evaluations and other duties as assigned. This role offers an opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Weavers Way offers an impressive benefits package including affordable medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, a 401k retirement plan with company match, employee discounts, paid vacation and sick time, and other employee-focused benefits. The work culture emphasizes community, teamwork, and sustainable practices that align with the cooperative's commitment to the People-Planet-Profit philosophy. Overall, this is a rewarding opportunity for culinary professionals who want to apply their skills in a values-driven organization while making a positive impact on the local community and environment.
