Job Description

St. Vincent de Paul is a well-respected nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community by providing various support services through its thrift stores and outreach programs. Established with a mission to give back and make a positive impact, St. Vincent de Paul operates with compassion, inclusivity, and a commitment to improving the lives of those in need. The Odana Road St. Vincent de Paul thrift store is one of several retail locations that help fund the organization’s services by offering donated goods to customers, donors, and clients. This thrift store environment fosters a community-focused atmosphere where individuals are welcomed to shop for unique and affordable items while supporting a charitable cause. St. Vincent de Paul prides itself on being a supportive and inclusive workplace that values diversity and encourages employees to thrive while contributing to meaningful work.

This full-time, non-exempt position at the Odana Road thrift store offers an hourly wage starting at $17.24 with an increase to $17.77 after six months. Operating hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This role is essential for the store’s success and for supporting the broader mission of St. Vincent de Paul. The person hired will be a key team member responsible for delivering excellent customer service, processing donations, restocking merchandise, and operating the cash register. Working in this position means having a direct impact on the store’s operations and the organization’s ability to provide vital community services.

The role involves working with a diverse array of customers and donors, offering assistance, and promoting the store’s VIP and monthly Round-Up programs which help fund the charitable work of the organization. Employees will be expected to perform a variety of functions including sorting and pricing merchandise, maintaining the cleanliness of the store, and ensuring safety protocols are followed in line with the organization’s standards. This position also supports a more inclusive and equitable work environment, valuing cultural competency and effective communication across diverse groups.

Candidates should be ready for a dynamic work environment where daily tasks can vary, and flexibility is important. Weekend availability is required, and the successful candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a willingness to take on additional duties as needed. Beyond the daily responsibilities, this job is rewarding because it combines work with a cause that makes a tangible difference in the community. St. Vincent de Paul emphasizes an inclusive staffing culture, offers full-time benefits including health, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid time off, supporting employee wellness and work-life balance.

Joining St. Vincent de Paul means becoming part of a mission-driven organization where your work supports community members in need while delivering a customer experience that reflects compassion, respect, and inclusion. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want meaningful work in a supportive environment that respects and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
