Job Description

SCHEELS is a prominent leader in the sporting goods retail industry, dedicated to delivering the best customer experience across the United States. With the largest selection of sports brands in America, SCHEELS offers world-class brands, special attractions, and unmatched customer service to athletes and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The company is passionate about sports, fitness, fashion, and the outdoors, and it fosters a culture where associates can transform their interests and enthusiasm into rewarding careers. SCHEELS invests heavily in extensive business and product training, ensuring that team members are well-prepared to serve customers with expertise and passion. Associates receive ongoing mentorship and professional development, positioning them for career growth and success within the organization.

The role of Food Service Associate at SCHEELS is an exciting opportunity to join the Ginna's restaurant team, within SCHEELS' retail environment. The position includes performing a variety of functions such as preparing fudge products, deli line operations, barista duties, grill work, ice cream serving, baked goods preparation, and other responsibilities as assigned by management. Following state and local food safety guidelines rigorously is a key part of the role, along with ensuring that all products are received, stored, and maintained according to Standard Operating Guidelines. A major focus is on cash control and till management, supporting daily cleaning schedules, and maintaining an orderly and clean workspace.

Associates in this role are expected to be professional, courteous, and contribute positively to the team atmosphere by showing respect and consideration to coworkers and customers. The schedule consists of 40-hour work weeks with flexibility needed to work between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., occasionally covering varied hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate. The starting wage for this position is $17 an hour, reflecting SCHEELS’ commitment to offering competitive compensation.

In addition to the technical skills related to food preparation and customer interaction, candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, a willingness to learn and adapt, and the ability to perform basic math operations related to money, weights, and measurements. They should be able to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions, prepare routine reports, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, talk, and hear, maintaining safety and wellness in the workplace.

SCHEELS promotes an inclusive and respectful work environment where associates are valued regardless of age, race, gender, or other protected characteristics. The company supports equal employment opportunities and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals when appropriate. This role is a fantastic fit for individuals looking to build a career in a dynamic retail and food service setting, with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
