Job Description
The Laura Hotel is a distinguished establishment rooted in the rich history of the steamboat of the same name, which serves as a symbol of pioneering spirit and innovation. Located in the heart of Downtown Houston, The Laura Hotel has been thoughtfully redesigned to not only honor its name but also to lead the city into a future marked by culinary excellence, vibrant creativity, and abundant opportunities for both business and leisure. This unique hotel embraces a culture that fosters growth, inclusivity, and the passion for hospitality, making it an exceptional destination for guests and an inspiring workplace for its team members.
As part of the HEI Hotels and Resorts family, The Laura Hotel benefits from a supportive company culture known as HEI Loves, which emphasizes the value of its associates through competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and generous paid time off programs. The company’s commitment to its team members extends beyond traditional benefits, offering perks such as free lunches, discounted parking, and travel opportunities. HEI Hotels and Resorts champions diversity and inclusion, encouraging candidates from all backgrounds — including U.S. military veterans — to apply and contribute to its dynamic workforce.
The role of the Busser at The Laura Hotel plays a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of service that the hotel is known for. This position involves assisting the Outlet Manager and Restaurant Servers by ensuring that dining areas are clean, orderly, and welcoming at all times. The Busser helps create an exceptional guest experience by swiftly clearing tables of dirty dishes and resetting them with clean serviceware, replenishing items such as silverware, linen, condiments, beverages, bread, and butter. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a proactive attitude to support the smooth flow of restaurant operations.
Operating within a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will efficiently transport dirty tableware to the dishwashing area and maintain stock levels across all meal periods. Punctuality and adherence to attendance rules are essential, as consistent availability is key to providing outstanding hospitality. The Busser at The Laura Hotel also has the opportunity to assist with other job-related duties as assigned, showcasing versatility and a willingness to contribute to overall team success.
The hourly wage for this position ranges from $10.00 to $11.00, and while it is not eligible for tips or discretionary performance bonuses, the role offers a fulfilling career path within a renowned hotel group. Ideal candidates will bring not only relevant skills and physical capability but also a desire to grow within the hospitality industry, supported by the hotel's comprehensive medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and retirement benefits. The Laura Hotel promises not just a job, but a chance to build a rewarding career in an exciting, culturally rich environment dedicated to excellence and guest satisfaction.
