Job Description

Starbucks Corporation is a renowned global coffeehouse chain known for its high-quality coffee, unique customer experience, and committed employee culture. Established in 1971 in Seattle, Washington, Starbucks has grown into one of the world's leading coffee brands with thousands of locations worldwide. Catering to diverse customers ranging from students and professionals to casual coffee lovers, Starbucks emphasizes not only product excellence but also an inviting and inclusive atmosphere. This role takes place at one of Starbucks' retail locations and requires adherence to the company's standards for product quality, customer service, operational efficiency, and safety.

The position being offered is a full-time Starbucks team member role focused on the preparation, processing, packaging, and stocking of Starbucks products according to company standards. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure all products meet Starbucks' stringent specifications and quality levels. Additionally, this role is critical in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, unloading stock supplies, and managing salvage products appropriately. The key element of this job is excellent customer service, which means interacting positively with customers and team members to enhance overall satisfaction and support sales growth.

Successful candidates for this Starbucks team member role are expected to have exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating a collaborative spirit and a strong willingness to participate in company training programs related to customer service, food sanitation, safety, and product knowledge. This role requires at least a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent, with one to three months of related experience or training preferred but not mandatory. The individual must be proficient in English communication skills including reading, writing simple correspondence, and effective verbal interaction in customer-facing situations.

Mathematical competency for this position includes basic addition and subtraction skills with familiarity in U.S. currency and weight measurements. Reasoning ability involves applying common sense to follow clear but non-complex written and oral instructions, handling routine issues that arise during daily operations. Certified training is required including new hire orientation, food safety, sanitation, and customer service courses. Candidates must be IST or AST certified as part of their credentials.

Physically, this role demands standing and walking regularly, using hands for handling products, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Some occasional physical movements such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling or crouching may be necessary. Strength requirements include the ability to regularly lift or move up to 30 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Good vision with close, color, and depth perception is necessary for operational accuracy and safety.

The work environment involves exposure to moderately noisy settings with varying temperatures ranging from hot to extremely cold. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, and some potentially caustic chemicals can occur, so the ability to work safely under these conditions is essential. Starbucks is committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities to ensure they can perform their essential job functions successfully.

This role presents a dynamic opportunity for candidates who are eager to join a global brand recognized not only for its coffee but also its dedication to fostering a positive workplace culture. The position promises ongoing training and development alongside competitive pay and benefits reflecting Starbucks' commitment to its workforce. Employees in this role contribute directly to the customer experience and operational excellence that distinguish Starbucks in the coffee industry.
