Joining ALDI as an Assistant Store Manager means stepping into a pivotal role where you will support the Store Manager with a variety of key responsibilities that influence overall store performance. This full-time position offers an average of 38 hours per week, starting at $26.50 per hour, with a wage increase to $27.50 per hour beginning in the second year. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play an essential role in supervising daily operations, managing schedules, and collaborating on operational action plans that promote efficient store management and customer satisfaction.

The role involves establishing clear job responsibilities and performance expectations for your team, fostering professional growth through identification of training opportunities, and ensuring that all store personnel uphold ALDI's standards for inventory control, product handling, and cash management. You will assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels, oversee merchandising to maximize sales, and ensure product quality and freshness. Moreover, the position requires actively contributing to a positive workplace culture by communicating company strategies and core values, motivating employees, and addressing operational concerns in the absence of the direct leader.

Physical demands are part of this role, with duties including stocking merchandise weighing up to 45 pounds, standing, bending, and walking throughout the store. Job Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in retail environment
  • Prior management experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Job Duties

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • Understand and communicate company strategy and core values
  • Monitor competitive environment and advise necessary adjustments
  • Provide product feedback and recommendations
  • Participate in the interviewing process for store personnel
  • Communicate weekly information, milestones, and concerns
  • Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling, and cash control policies
  • Resolve operational customer concerns in leadership’s absence
  • Identify and correct hazards and maintain store equipment
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and signage
  • Assist with product ordering and stock level maintenance
  • Merchandise products neatly to maximize sales
  • Ensure product quality and accurate signage
  • Assist with store payroll, total loss budget, inventory counts, and employee training
  • Supervise day-to-day team operations and escalate issues as needed
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of assigned responsibilities
  • Comply with company policies and uphold document and data confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
