The role of Assistant Store Manager at ALDI is a pivotal position responsible for assisting in the management of day-to-day store activities to ensure smooth and profitable operations. This full-time position offers an average of 38 hours per week, starting at a wage of 25.50 USD per hour with a wage increase to 26.50 USD per hour in the second year. The Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Leader to develop and implement operational action plans focused on improving store performance and customer satisfaction. This role involves supervising store personnel, managing schedules, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

This position holds significant responsibility for fostering a positive work culture by establishing clear job responsibilities and performance expectations for their team. The Assistant Store Manager also identifies opportunities for staff training and development to enhance employee skills and performance, promoting growth within the team. A key part of the role is maintaining a strong understanding of market competition and providing feedback on product selection to help keep the store competitive and aligned with customer needs. The Assistant Store Manager additionally plays an active role in the hiring process, supports inventory management, oversees cash control policies, and resolves operational customer concerns as needed.

Physical demands of the position include the ability to stock merchandise, handle products weighing up to 45 pounds, and undertake regular physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and walking throughout the store. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • Identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • Understand, communicate, and model company strategy and core values
  • Monitor competitive environment and inform direct leader of necessary adjustments
  • Provide product feedback including recommendations on new or discontinued items
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring process for store personnel
  • Communicate weekly information, team milestones, developments, and concerns
  • Ensure adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
  • Resolve operational customer concerns in the absence of direct leader
  • Identify and rectify hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain store cleanliness standards and proper signage
  • Assist with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering
  • Merchandise products neatly to maximize sales
  • Ensure product quality, freshness, and signage accuracy
  • Support achievement of store payroll, total loss budget, inventory counts, and new employee training
  • Supervise day-to-day team operations, escalating issues as necessary
  • Ensure timely and effective completion of assigned responsibilities by direct reports
  • Comply with all company policies, security, and confidentiality requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
