Joining the ALDI team as an Assistant Store Manager offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the efficient daily operations and overall performance of a busy retail grocery store. This full-time role typically involves working approximately 38 hours per week, with a competitive starting wage of $25.50 per hour and a wage increase to $26.50 per hour in the second year. The Assistant Store Manager acts as a key support to the Store Manager in supervising staff, enhancing store productivity, and ensuring a positive customer experience. Responsibilities include managing work schedules, implementing operational strategies, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining a safe and clean store environment.

This position demands a proactive approach to leadership and teamwork, with a focus on coaching and developing employees to achieve their full potential. The Assistant Store Manager will participate in recruiting and training new team members, provide feedback on product offerings, and oversee inventory and cash control procedures. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • minimum of three years progressive retail experience
  • combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
  • prior management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • assist the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
  • establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
  • identify training and development opportunities for direct reports
  • understand and model company strategy and core values
  • monitor competitive environment and inform direct leader of necessary adjustments
  • provide product feedback and recommendations
  • participate in interviewing store personnel
  • communicate weekly information, milestones, and concerns
  • ensure adherence to inventory, product handling, and cash control policies
  • resolve customer concerns in the direct leader’s absence
  • identify and rectify hazards and maintain equipment
  • maintain store cleanliness and proper signage
  • assist with maintaining proper stock levels through product ordering
  • merchandise products neatly to maximize sales
  • ensure product quality, freshness, and accurate signage
  • assist with achieving store payroll and total loss budgets, inventory counts, and employee training
  • supervise daily operations and escalate issues as needed
  • ensure timely and effective completion of responsibilities to provide high-level customer service
  • comply with all company policies and uphold data confidentiality
  • perform other assigned duties
