Job Requirements
- BS in recreation therapy preferred
- Associate degree in human service field with relevant experience
- High school diploma with two years of social or recreational programming experience within the last five years, including one year full-time in a healthcare activity program
- Certification as certified recreation therapist, certified occupational therapy assistant, or certified activity director
- Valid driver's license
- Six months experience in long-term care environment preferred
- One year experience in patient setting within healthcare required
- Management or administrative experience preferred
- Clearance through state-specific background check prior to patient contact
Job Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in recreation therapy, occupational therapy, or human services
- Certification as Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Activity Director or eligibility for certification
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Proven ability to adapt activity plans according to resident needs
- Passion for advocacy and enhancing quality of life
- Experience in healthcare, long-term care, or activity programming
- Leadership or program management experience preferred
Job Duties
- Creating meaningful moments by assessing each resident's interests, history, and abilities
- Designing dynamic programs including music therapy, pet visits, cultural celebrations, and independent pursuits
- Collaborating with nursing, therapy, social services, families, and community partners
- Enhancing facility spaces with engaging calendars, festive decor, and orientation tools
- Leading engagement through one-on-one visits, small groups, large events, and off-site adventures
- Supporting resident and family councils to ensure resident voices are heard
- Tracking participation, documenting outcomes, and improving programs
- Managing budgets, supplies, and program resources effectively
