Job Description
Cascadia Healthcare is a well-respected provider in the healthcare sector, specializing in long-term care and rehabilitation services. Known for its patient-centered approach and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, Cascadia Healthcare has built a reputation for compassionate care and innovative programming. The organization fosters a collaborative environment where healthcare professionals and support staff work together to deliver holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents. With a strong focus on community integration and personalized care, Cascadia Healthcare is dedicated to creating meaningful experiences that enrich the lives of those they serve.
The role of Activities Manager at Cascadia Healthcare is a unique and impactful position that goes beyond traditional event planning. This role is designed for someone who combines creativity, compassion, and organizational skills to develop and lead a dynamic, person-centered activity program. The Activities Manager will be responsible for designing personalized activity plans based on each resident's interests, history, and abilities, ensuring that every day holds purpose and joy. The position demands a mix of strategic thinking and hands-on engagement, involving collaboration with nursing staff, therapists, social services, families, and community partners to create a vibrant and stimulating environment.
Activities under the manager's guidance include music therapy, pet visits, cultural celebrations, and a wide range of independent pursuits. The role also involves enhancing the physical spaces within the facility with engaging calendars, festive decor, and orientation materials that strengthen resident connection to time, place, and community. An essential part of the position is direct resident engagement, from one-on-one interactions to leading small groups, large events, and off-site adventures. The Activities Manager is also charged with fostering resident autonomy by supporting resident and family councils, making sure their voices are heard and valued.
Measurement and continual improvement of program outcomes form a critical component of this leadership role. The Activities Manager must track participation, evaluate the impact of activities, and make data-driven adjustments. Effective management of budgets, supplies, and resources is also required to balance creativity with operational efficiency. This role is ideal for someone passionate about advocacy and improving the quality of life for older adults and health care residents. It requires a blend of clinical understanding, therapeutic insight, and the ability to inspire joy and engagement.
This position offers a meaningful career opportunity for professionals with backgrounds in recreation therapy, occupational therapy, or human services, who hold certifications such as Certified Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant, or Activity Director. The Activities Manager plays a crucial role in reducing loneliness, sparking joy, and creating purposeful moments daily within a diverse community of residents.
