Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned family-owned company that has been delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences since its founding in Glendale, California, in 1983. It has grown exponentially to become the largest family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company includes several notable brands, notably Panda Express, a popular fast casual Asian cuisine restaurant, Panda Inn fine dining restaurants, and Hibachi San, their Japanese grill concept. Panda Restaurant Group prides itself on building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives, staying true to its mission of delivering superior dining services while fostering an empowering and supportive work culture. The company is still operated by its founders, Andrew and Peggy Cherng, ensuring that its core family values guide business operations and employee relations.
At Panda, the commitment to great people running great operations is evident through their investment in their team members. This dedication has cultivated a workplace culture centered on five fundamental values: Proactive, Respect/Win-Win, Growth, Great Operations, and Giving. These values shape the way employees interact both internally and with their guests, emphasizing respect, collaboration, continuous growth, operational excellence, and community involvement. Panda offers numerous entrances into the restaurant industry — from entry-level roles as crew members and kitchen team members to managerial positions. The company provides competitive pay and comprehensive benefits to support their employees’ welfare and career progression.
The role of a Server at Panda is pivotal in offering guests exceptional dining experiences. Servers are responsible for efficiently serving customers while maintaining a strong knowledge of food and beverage menus. These team members act as the face of the restaurant, ensuring guests are greeted warmly and receive timely, friendly, and professional attention throughout their visit. The Server positions are typically part-time or full-time hourly roles with pay ranges between $16.5 to $19.5 per hour, depending on work location and experience. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for hospitality and aspire to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced food service environment.
As a Server, you will be expected to create memorable dining experiences by explaining menu offerings, recommending specials, remembering regular guests, and providing attentive service that anticipates customer needs. You will coordinate closely with kitchen staff to accommodate special requests and ensure all dishes are prepared and served to the highest standards. Maintaining a clean and orderly station and complying with company hygiene and safety regulations are also crucial aspects of the role.
Panda values diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in employment, striving to maintain a respectful workplace that complies with all federal, state, and local laws regarding nondiscrimination and accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The company encourages team members to engage in ongoing career and leadership development with potential opportunities for promotion into management. Panda also supports community engagement and offers a range of benefits, including medical, vision, dental insurance, paid time off, 401K with company match, flexible schedules, and free meals during shifts.
If you are eager to be part of a continuously growing, family-oriented organization that puts its people first and seek a position where your skills in communication and guest service can shine, Panda Restaurant Group’s Server role offers a vibrant career path. Whether you are new to restaurant work or bring prior experience, Panda promises a supportive, rewarding workplace and opportunities that foster personal and professional growth.
