Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group is a renowned family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept that was founded in Glendale, California in 1983. Today, it is the largest family-owned and operated Asian dining company in the United States with close to 2,300 locations worldwide. The company proudly operates several dining brands including Panda Express, the fast casual gourmet Chinese food concept, Panda Inn, the original fine dining restaurant, and Hibachi San, their Japanese grill concept. With a longstanding mission to "Deliver exceptional Asian dining experiences by building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives," Panda emphasizes the importance of its people, recognizing that great employees lead to great operations that exceed guest expectations. Panda prides itself on a corporate culture embedded in its five fundamental values: Proactive, Respect/Win-Win, Growth, Great Operations, and Giving. They offer competitive benefits and opportunities for career advancement, with roles available nationwide in restaurants and support centers in Rosemead, California.

The role of Hostess at Panda is a critical position within the restaurant, as it often forms the guests' first and last impressions of their dining experience. This position involves greeting guests warmly, providing menus promptly, addressing any immediate questions, assisting with special seating requirements, and facilitating an exceptional guest experience both for dine-in and takeout orders. The hostess must also have thorough menu knowledge to assist guests in choosing balanced meals and engage in suggestive selling to maximize sales opportunities. Additional responsibilities include managing phone calls, reservations, and accurately processing orders. Hostesses support the serving team by assisting with beverage delivery and help maintain a clean and safe dining environment by performing cleaning and administrative tasks as assigned.

This full-time position offers a competitive starting wage ranging from $16.9 to $19.9 per hour, depending on location and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Panda invests substantially in training and on-going career and leadership development programs to prepare employees for success and future growth opportunities, including transitions into management roles. The company is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ensuring all employees and applicants are treated with fairness, respect, and equality without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics. Panda values flexibility, competitive compensation, and a motivating work culture that encourages associates to be their best. Employees at Panda enjoy benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and associate discounts among others, which contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
