This role is primarily focused on customer order fulfillment and product handling in a retail environment. The position entails picking, staging, inspecting, and fulfilling customer orders with high accuracy and timeliness while maintaining clean, organized, and safe staging areas. The associate delivers excellent customer service by selecting high-quality items, validating orders, addressing customer inquiries, and connecting customers with appropriate associates when necessary. Operators must be certified to use powered equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and narrow aisle reach trucks, adhering strictly to safety regulations. Additionally, the role supports inventory accuracy through the use of technological tools, compliance with inventory management systems, and collaboration with leadership to resolve discrepancies such as short picks.

Administrative and maintenance tasks also form part of the daily responsibilities, including conducting audits, following up on orders, managing personal lockers, and reporting any safety or theft concerns promptly. The role demands a strong customer-first mindset, effective communication, and teamwork skills to ensure all daily duties are completed efficiently and safely. Compensation for this position ranges from $17.00 to $17.70 per hour, with a starting rate dependent on factors such as job location, education, training, and experience. Job Requirements

  • 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
  • 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets
  • Powered equipment certification: counterbalance forklift, order picker, and narrow aisle reach truck (required, must be obtained if not already certified)

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 6 months of experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
  • 6 months of experience using common retail technology, such as smart phones and tablets
  • Powered equipment certification: counterbalance forklift, order picker, and narrow aisle reach truck (must be obtained if not already certified)
  • 6 months of retail experience preferred
  • 6 months of experience in a customer service or product fulfillment position at a home improvement or hardware retailer in related departments (e.g., kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden) preferred
  • 6 months of experience in any industry inspecting, carrying, loading, and unloading product or material in or out of vehicles preferred

Job Duties

  • Pick, stage, inspect, and fulfill customer orders accurately and on time, keeping staging areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Deliver excellent service by choosing high quality items, validating orders, answering questions, and connecting customers with the right associates when needed
  • Operate and maintain certification for powered equipment (forklift, order picker, narrow aisle reach truck) and follow all safety requirements
  • Support inventory accuracy by using the Orders App, maintaining SIMS compliance, and partnering with leadership to resolve short picks
  • Complete administrative, maintenance, and readiness tasks such as audits, order follow-ups, and locker management, while reporting safety or theft concerns promptly
  • Achieve daily job responsibilities with a customer-first mindset with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • May be assigned other duties to support the needs of the business
