Job Requirements

  • Must pass a criminal background check and required clearances
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to use computer and telephone
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone
  • Willingness to work Monday to Friday with occasional weekends
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree in related fields preferred
  • Minimum two years experience in receptionist or customer service
  • Experience in social service or community organizations preferred
  • Familiarity with fuel assistance programs like LIHEAP is a plus
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual skills in English and a second language preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Provide basic information to callers and visitors regarding fuel assistance programs
  • Assist individuals in locating and accessing application forms and other necessary documents
  • Assist with basic data entry or record-keeping related to client interactions
  • Interact with clients in a respectful, patient, and understanding manner
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with program policies and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Assist in resolving basic client inquiries or direct them to appropriate staff
  • Assist with program-related tasks as assigned
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
  • Book appointments as necessary
  • Follow appointment log regularly and make necessary changes
  • Coordinate emergency appointments with informational specialists
  • Direct handling of FedEx/UP packages
  • Provide information regarding client applications by researching computer data
