Job Description
Dallas Retirement Village is a dedicated assisted living community that prioritizes providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for its residents, guests, and employees. As a trusted name in elderly care, the village focuses on creating a comfortable, safe, and friendly environment that promotes dignity and respect for all its residents. The community is committed to delivering high-quality hospitality and personalized service, ensuring that every interaction reflects care and professionalism. Dallas Retirement Village takes pride in fostering a culture where staff members work collaboratively to maintain an exceptional dining experience and comprehensive support services for residents. The establishment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and attention to detail, aligning with industry standards and regulatory requirements to create an optimal living space for seniors.
The role of Server at Dallas Retirement Village’s Assisted Living (AL) facility is a vital position that entails greeting residents and guests warmly and providing full wait staff duties during meal times. This employment opportunity involves working as part of a dedicated team responsible for the support and delivery of dining services. The server’s primary responsibilities include greeting guests, offering beverages, taking orders, coordinating with kitchen staff, delivering meals, and attending to any additional dining needs residents or guests may have. Servers ensure the dining environment is clean, pleasant, and conducive to an enjoyable meal experience by clearing and setting tables, pre-preparing condiments, and following procedures that prevent cross-contamination and maintain food safety.
Additionally, the server role involves assisting with dishwashing and cleaning tasks assigned to maintain hygiene and organization within the kitchen and dining area. The position requires adherence to strict safety regulations, infection control policies, and universal precautions. The server will also be involved in food handling duties such as properly labeling and storing food items, documenting food and equipment temperatures, and disposing of waste according to established protocols. Maintaining personal hygiene standards and conforming to the department’s dress code is essential to project professionalism. Moreover, the server is expected to attend in-service training sessions designed to keep skills current with the latest health standards and service techniques.
This role demands resilience and flexibility, as employees may encounter exposure to infectious waste and diseases, temperature extremes in kitchen and storage areas, and physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and walking extensively during shifts. The server must be willing to work various shifts, including holidays and weekends, and adapt to changes in work pace based on dining needs. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to tactfully and respectfully interact with residents, visitors, and co-workers, embodying the hospitality promises of greeting everyone by name with a smile, listening attentively, and maintaining accountability and professionalism at all times.
No prior experience is necessary for this position, as on-the-job training will provide the essential knowledge and skills needed to succeed. However, adequate reading abilities are required to understand diet cards, special menus, and other food service procedures. A Food Handlers Card must be obtained within one month of hire to ensure compliance with food safety standards. The server position at Dallas Retirement Village offers an opportunity to be part of a compassionate team committed to enhancing the dining experience for seniors in a respectful and caring environment.
