The role of Front Waiter at The Modern is a vital component of the dining experience, playing a key part in ensuring guests receive warm, attentive service paired with expert knowledge of the menu and beverages. The Front Waiter acts as the backbone of the Service team, responsible not only for serving food and beverages but also for providing leadership on the floor during service hours. Job Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in a guest-facing, fine dining restaurant role
  • A keen understanding of Michelin-starred service and world-class hospitality
  • English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to balance and carry multiple plates, glass racks and/or glasses, and lift objects up to 30 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience in a guest-facing, fine dining restaurant role
  • A keen understanding of Michelin-starred service and world-class hospitality
  • English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Job Duties

  • Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality
  • Demonstrate expertise of all food and beverage menu items with sound knowledge of all ingredients and preparations
  • Consistently follows steps of service with efficiency and grace, while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout service
  • Anticipates guest needs, ensuring constant communication with colleagues, management, and the kitchen at all times during service
  • Maintains the high standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant both before, during and after service
  • Demonstrates an eagerness to continue to learn and grow
