Job Description
Halekulani is a distinguished luxury hotel located on the iconic Waikiki Beach, with a history spanning over 100 years. This renowned establishment is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, gracious hospitality, impeccable service, and unparalleled cuisine. Known for living its core value of LEGACY, Halekulani prides itself on preserving its cultural traditions while providing guests with an unforgettable experience. The hotel has become a beloved landmark in Waikiki, welcoming visitors from around the globe and offering them a unique blend of Hawaiian culture and world-class amenities. Halepuna Waikiki, a part of the Halekulani family, carries forward this tradition by delivering the "art of service" through every member of its team, ensuring each guest receives personalized attention and the highest level of care.
The Porter/Valet role at Halepuna Waikiki is a vital position within the team, responsible for enhancing and improving each guest's experience through attentive and proactive service. This position requires a warm and professional demeanor as the Porter/Valet serves as one of the first points of contact for guests arriving at or departing from the hotel. The Porter/Valet assists guests by handling their luggage, safely managing valet parking, and providing helpful information about the hotel and surrounding attractions. This role demands not only physical stamina but also excellent interpersonal skills, as the Porter/Valet must anticipate guest needs and respond promptly with thoughtful care.
As an essential part of the guest experience, the Porter/Valet supports a variety of duties, including greeting guests, assisting with luggage storage and transport, organizing luggage for tour groups, tracking packages, and driving vehicles safely and efficiently. The role also involves collaborating with other hotel departments to address any guest concerns and ensure seamless service. The Porter/Valet is entrusted with maintaining a professional appearance, upholding the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and safety, and being vigilant about security throughout the property.
This position requires flexibility in working various days, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business demands. Candidates should possess a valid driver’s license and have a strong foundation in customer service and hospitality. Prior experience with property management systems is advantageous. The Porter/Valet must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic environment. Physical tasks include lifting and carrying luggage weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling heavy items up to 110 pounds, making physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labor essential.
Halekulani values diversity and inclusiveness, promoting an equal opportunity workplace that welcomes applicants regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or disability. Joining Halepuna Waikiki as a Porter/Valet means becoming part of a team dedicated to upholding a century-old legacy, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and contributing to a warm, welcoming environment where Hawaiian culture and hospitality flourish.
