Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences, diverse career opportunities, and fostering an inclusive work environment. Among its prestigious brands, Westin Hotels & Resorts stands out as a wellness-focused property where associates are encouraged to maintain and promote well-being for themselves and guests alike. Situated in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Westin at 2365 Kalakaua Ave embodies this mission, offering a vibrant setting where employees contribute meaningfully to guests' travel experiences in a scenic and culturally rich locale. The company is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and upholding non-discrimination policies to ensure a supportive and respectful workplace for all staff, valuing diverse backgrounds, talents, and outlooks.
The part-time, non-management Bell Attendant position at the Westin is pivotal in shaping the guest arrival and departure experience, with a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $26.97 to $33.71 and eligibility for tips. The primary responsibility is to greet guests warmly, assist with their luggage, and provide valuable information about property amenities, services, hours of operation, and local attractions. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills to engage guests professionally and courteously, ensuring their satisfaction and comfort from the moment they arrive at the property until their departure. Additionally, the Bell Attendant assists with transportation arrangements, offers directions, and supports guest mobility including assisting those with disabilities.
Operational duties also include managing luggage storage and retrieval efficiently and ensuring guest safety by monitoring property access and reporting any hazards or concerns to management. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently, or up to 75 pounds with assistance, and moving safely on varied surfaces including stairs and ramps. The role is anchored in a strong commitment to guest service standards, with expectations to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while upholding confidentiality of proprietary information.
Beyond guest interaction, Bell Attendants may contribute to departmental activities such as supporting hiring processes, participating in training, and maintaining positive relationships among team members. Attention to detail and adherence to company policies around safety, quality assurance, and communication are paramount. Employees in this role will also have access to a suite of benefits including health care, retirement plans, paid time off, life insurance, and disability coverage, supporting both their professional and personal well-being.
Joining the Westin team means becoming part of a brand that empowers employees to embrace active and optimistic lifestyles, align with wellness principles, and take pride in their role within the hospitality sector. This position offers a unique opportunity for those seeking to develop their skills in guest services within a supportive, dynamic, and culturally enriching environment in paradise. The ideal candidate is friendly, proactive, and passionate about hospitality, ready to deliver exceptional service and create memorable experiences for every guest.
