The Residence Inn San Jose South seeks a dedicated Front Office Supervisor to join its vibrant team at 6111 San Ignacio Ave, San Jose, CA 95119. The position is hourly and centered on providing exceptional guest service and operational leadership at the front desk. The Front Office Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting both the Assistant General Manager and General Manager while directly interacting with guests to ensure a welcoming and efficient experience from arrival to departure. A core part of the role involves maximizing room revenue and occupancy through attentive management of reservations, guest requests, and room status oversight.
Key responsibilities include managing VIP and special guest satisfaction, utilizing the front desk computer system proficiently, coordinating message and package delivery, enforcing credit policies, and ensuring compliance with hotel standards. This supervisory role calls for overseeing various daily operational tasks such as completing bucket checks, rate verification, and housekeeping reports, maintaining communication across departments, monitoring security through key control management, and contributing to departmental planning and training initiatives.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of related hotel experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work flexible and long hours
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Warm, friendly, and courteous demeanor
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
- Maintain regular attendance
- Adhere to appearance and grooming standards

Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
- College coursework in related field helpful
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred
- Valid driver's license for the applicable state
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required
- Ability to maintain warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties
- Obtain all necessary information when taking room reservations and follow the rate-quoting scenario
- Monitor all VIP and special guest requests
- Review Front Office log and Trace File daily
- Fully comprehend and operate all relevant aspects of the Front Desk computer system
- Ensure logging and delivery of all messages, packages, and mail in a timely and professional manner
- Be aware of all rates, packages, and promotions currently underway as listed in the Red Book
- Be familiar with all in-house groups
- Be aware of all closed out and restricted dates
- Follow and enforce all Highgate Hotel hotel credit policies
- Complete and ensure that a proper bucket check, room rate verification report, and housekeeping report have been accurately done and filed
- Maintain proper operation of the P.B.X. console and ensure that all standards are met
- Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel
- Assist in ensuring that employees are following and maintaining standards
- Have knowledge of and assist in all emergency procedures as required
- Oversee and ensure that all guests are checked in/out in a friendly, efficient, and courteous manner
- Complete all tasks and duties on the shift checklist efficiently
- Be responsible for issued house bank
- Perform all duties of Guest Services Agent
- Run room status reports timely and relay necessary information
- Monitor key control to maintain hotel security
- Ensure maximization of room revenue through Rooms Merchandising
- Answer all guest inquiries professionally
- Be involved in departmental meeting, planning and execution
- Help maintain productivity at or above budgeted standards
- Assist in training and cross training of new hires and current employees regularly
