Job Requirements
- Completion of high school or possession of GED
- at least one year of full-time experience as a receptionist or in a customer service position with a community-based organization, or satisfactory completion of medical receptionist or medical assistant training program
- ability to provide sensitive and respectful care to individuals from diverse backgrounds
- ability to work with computers and data entry
- ability to type 35 wpm preferred
- knowledge of business office procedures
- knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- skill in operating computer, phone, copier, and fax machine
- skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone pleasantly
- ability to communicate clearly
- ability to exercise diplomacy and tact
- ability to manage multiple communication channels

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- warmly welcome and greet patients, clients, visitors to the clinic or department in person, on the phone, or via text, and direct them appropriately
- perform patient visitor screening per guidelines
- register patients within Electronic Health Record and ensure accurate data entry
- schedule appointments following organizational protocols
- verify patient information, consents, and insurance eligibility
- conduct robust confirmation calls prior to appointments
- organize appointment schedules based on patient arrival and provider availability
- utilize pre-visit planning tools to improve care quality
- attend departmental meetings and trainings
- maintain confidentiality and privacy in line with HIPAA
- communicate schedule changes to care team and patients
- follow up on critical tasks and route queries appropriately
- obtain authorizations for managed care services
- assist patients with patient portal registration and education
- conduct outreach for patients with gaps in care
- support new staff training
- scan and maintain patient forms and records
- manage communications including answering phones and routing calls appropriately
- open and close clinic buildings
- process payments and maintain cash balances
- handle patient complaints professionally
- open, sort, and distribute mail
- process medical record requests
- travel between assigned sites as needed
- perform other related duties as assigned
