Job Requirements

  • one year of food and beverage experience preferably in a fine dining restaurant
  • working knowledge of good specialty or cuisine and service standards in specific restaurants
  • must be able to stand and walk for majority of shift
  • must be able to lift and carry trays weighing approximately 40 pounds
  • must have excellent customer service and communication skills
  • must be able to utilize computer systems for placing food and beverage orders and processing payments
  • must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses and or certifications

Job Duties

  • receive and serve food and beverage orders from guests
  • collect payment and make change for guest checks
  • have complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items and daily specials
  • coordinate service for the entire team including timing of meal and overall customer satisfaction
  • communicate with the host to determine special needs or requirements of guests prior to seating
  • provide initial greeting to guests and introduce other members of the serving team
  • demonstrate outstanding communication skills and memorize scripted presentations including the room's concept and menu tour
  • take guests beverage orders while suggesting and upselling cocktails, wine, and beer
  • order and deliver beverages
  • review menu offerings including specials and suggest to enhance guest satisfaction while accurately recording guest orders
  • place orders communicating special needs to back waiter or assistant food specialist
  • ensure proper delivery of courses and guest satisfaction throughout the meal
  • continue to sell beverages and menu items including dessert while maintaining the table
  • present guest check at end of meal ensuring settlement of bill
  • thank guests as they depart per scripted requirements
  • assist the team in clearing and resetting tables
  • communicate guest dining preferences to the host team for guest history
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
